We started in person, and when we transitioned to remote sessions, she was so good at explaining every detail to keep the exercises safe for my (bad) back.  She is very personable, knowledgeable, caring, and creative in adapting every session to my needs. I have taken pilates lessons with Shana for over 2 years, as my physical therapist recommended that I take pilates because of my lower back disc issues.  Shana has been excellent to work with because she understands the anatomy of the human body and knows how to modify the exercises that I do so that I do not re-injure my back.  In fact, there have been many times when she has recognized and eased my fears about doing a particular exercise. 

Safety is a priority with Shana and lessons are never boring and routine.  She is always changing the respective exercises that I do.   Shana strives to enhance her knowledge about pilates methods, strengthening exercises for people with injuries and/or osteoporosis via continuing professional education.   She has a very cheerful and enthusiastic personality and it was easy to establish a rapport and trust with her.  I highly recommend taking lessons with Shana.

Since the first pilates class I had with Shana over two years ago, she has been a consummate professional, with just the right amount of quirkiness to make every session a pleasurable, as well as rigorous, stretching extravaganza. She has a natural ease in engaging with every person in her classes and with every client who takes privates with her. She remembers the bodily conditions of her clients; and deftly adjusts to their exercise and stretching needs, adopting alternative ways of getting in and out of various poses and moves. She remembers what stretches and activities each person likes and dislikes.

In private sessions, she is a companion for well-being and well-feeling. She remembers I love being on the foam roller and accommodates my preferences; but she never stops challenging me with new moves, especially those that help with my hip flexors. She has taught me a ton about my body over these past few years. In addition, she has been my go-to person for take-out Asian cuisine in Ann Arbor and for suggestions for a painter to do some walls in my kitchen.
